Gradall Industries is a leading designer and manufacturer of rough-terrain, variable-reach hydraulic material handlers and telescopic boom excavators. Gradall’s material handlers are typically used by various contractors for lifting, transporting, and placing a wide variety of materials at their point of use or storage, and their excavators are typically used by general contractors and municipalities for digging, ditching, sloping, finish grading, and general maintenance.
MLGA (a predecessor of Long Point Capital) invested in Gradall through a leveraged recapitalization structure, where the owners of the Company monetized the majority of the illiquid value contained in the business, while continuing to retain a significant ownership interest in the Company and maintaining operational control along with the existing management team.
Gradall successfully executed on its growth plan tied to the introduction of new excavator models and greater acceptance of its unique material handler design. As a result of the Company’s rapid growth, Gradall completed a successful IPO. Long Point exited partially through sales of its stock in the public market, and then completely through a sale of the entire company to a strategic buyer.
